Linda Gibbons Charged with Disobeying a Court Order

Remember a few days ago when we talked about an authentic Canadian hero, Linda Gibbons, being released from jail after silently holding a sign outside an Toronto abortuary? She was in violation of a 1994 “temporary” injunction prohibiting protesters from coming within 20 meters (60 feet) of the clinic.

Guess what? The grandmother was arrested again outside of the abortuary last Wednesday. This time she’s been charged with the more appropriate disobeying a court order. This will allow a jury trial and will open the “temporary” injunction up to a constitutional challenge; something pro-lifers have wanted for a long time.

Please pray that things go well for Linda Gibbons, and for the pro-life movement in Toronto. In America today we enjoy the right to assemble peacefully (most of the time), but in Canada it’s looking more and more like George Orwell’s 1984. We’ll let you know what comes of this trial; I’m sure it’ll be very interesting when it’s all said and done!
