Buyer Beware When Faith Shopping

I actually saw this sign at Wal-Mart the other day and just couldn’t resist taking a picture (my phone's camera isn't the best quality, sorry).  Wow, what a value!  This "sale" item is $1.72 more than before!

There’s an analogy here to our faith lives.  Many people try to wow us with fancy advertising from the “as a child of God you deserve to live a decadent life of prosperity, health, and wealth” to “your buddy buddy relationship with Christ is all that matters; you don’t need to go to church, the sacraments, or anyone else to know God” and so many others.  The idea is the same; tell us what we want to hear hope we overlook the details.

At the end of the day we’re all responsible for the choices we make.  Today would be a great time to invest some thought into the choices we’ve made regarding our journey home.
